It is not your responsibility to change the world! You need not spend too much time trying to tell everyone how to act or feel. People act and think the way they choose due to circumstances in their lives that create various thought patterns. Your only responsibility as a Chiist is to lead by example. People will gravitate toward what you believe only if they see how it is serving you. You cannot preach “thou shall not kill” and you are killing everyone in your path. You cannot preach that “thou shall not steal” and you are a kleptomaniac. You cannot say thou shall not commit adultery and you are cavorting your neighbors wife or husband! You cannot preach love and cannot love your neighbor. Being a Chiist means to serve Chineke through deeds, not words!

Always remember that you and Chineke are one. Chineke’s plan for you is your salvation. You must be willing to forgive. Be the one to define who you are and who you must become. All that you cannot do, Chineke will do! You are your own brother and sister. Right where you are is the power, the blessings, the love and the peace of Chineke. Be open to feel it. Be willing to show it and be prepared to share it.
Until you can do these things, stop preaching and just listen!

Otito Nile Diri Chineke!

  1. Very well said, Oke Dibia! In Igbo land, we say that Madu bu Chi ibeya. This means that you are like Chineke to your fellow man, and woman. All of Chineke’s blessings flow through another person to you. Therefore, we must treat all people with kindness, love, and an appreciation that through Chineke, we are one.
