
This information is presented strictly as a fact of Igbo medicinal traditions. It is not being recommended as an alternative to orthodox medicine. The local community members use the Mai-Mai Akom to mange malaria in the villages. Though there is no picture of this tree(one is coming soon). This Plant is used to subdue the effects of malaria. It is very bitter but the bark of the tree and also the leaves are boiled, sieved, allowed to cool, and given to the individual to drink. It causes the individual to break into sweats and cools the body temperature. it also manages nausea associated with malaria.
